ARTWORK/SCREEN PRINTING

mono-printing through screens

To create the umbrella the boys worked in pairs building up backgrounds on individual sections of the umbrella by mono-printing through screens. Again they chose warm or cold colour spectrums to complement their deck chair covers.

The pupils had previously each selected a word or phrase from their poems which they then worked on in the software programme 'Bannermania'.

Once they were happy with the results the graphic images were printed out onto acetate and transferred onto screens using a photographic stencilling process.

Their photo-stencils were then repeat printed across the different sections and around the skirt that hangs from the edge of the umbrella. The sections were now ready to be sewn up.
