WORKSHOP DAY 1

The first workshop day began with a warm-up session, directed by Olusola Oyeleye, in which the pupils, artists and staff introduced themselves by playing a name game. This was followed by an introductory session with Viv Golding looking at the handling collection from the Horniman Museum.

Olusola then encouraged the pupils to discuss the significance of power and make word associations which led to them being given 3 minutes to write an acrostic poem in groups of four or five:

by Jamie, Tom, Ben, Stuart, Luke and Steven

Power can cause disaster
Opportunity creates chances
World-wide domination
Enthusiasm keeps your dreams alive
Religious beliefs give you hope
by Andrew, Darren, Adam and Michael

Power is control

Wealth gives you power and fame
Everybody appreciates and respects you
Rich people are able to buy authority
by Tim, Nick, Jason, Scott and Lewis

We should use it wisely
Everyone has it but you need knowledge to use it
Respect can bring you power and authority
by Sam, Jonathon, Kris, Ben and Martin

Wealth for everyone
Everyone is equal
Respect from citizens
by Wayne, Daryl, Michael, Joe, Ross

The pupils then ..... (CONTINUE TO NEXT PAGE)
