On Day 3 of the project, the children worked in groups making up their wishes and then read them out to the class (see the Song, stories, drama pages). See some coloured-in drawings on the Gallery page. |

The children started to design their wish hats Tony then gave them an A4 sheet with a circle drawn on it and asked the children to draw a simplified version of their wish illustration inside the circle. What part of the hat is the circle? |

The children then cut out their shapes. |

![]() | ![]() | Next the children drew a strip for the brim of their hat and decorated it with simple shapes they had drawn of patterns at the African Worlds Exhibition taken from their Museum visit worksheets. These shapes were then also cut out. |

The children then took it in turns to work with Sarah hand painting a background for their hat top and brim. They then laid out their shapes and printed up the cloth. |

![]() | When they were dry they worked with Sarah cutting out the brim and hat top and sewing them together on a sewing machine that Sarah had brought in. Now their hats were complete! |
