INSPIRATION AFRICA!
Project 6
Malory Secondary School
ICT/PROJECT WEB PAGES
The Inspiration Africa! project at Malory Secondary School took place in the computer suite and adjoining art room and so computers were used to assist the project whenever possible.
For instance, after the introductory screen printing session pupils had completed an on-line worksheet about their experience and sent it to the Inspiration Africa! website. On Day 3 pupils were able to see their introduction day and this screen printing session, featuring the comments they had submitted, documented on the Inspiration Africa! website.
Over the rest of the project they also accessed an on-line Word document to enable the literacy side of the project.
This was linked from their main project6 page along with a duplicate web page for back-up. Pupils saved the document to their own computers, opened the file up in Word and typed their Robber lines, saved the file and then sent it as an e-mail attachment to jacqui@clothofgold.org.uk specifying which of the two groups they belonged to. These files were then easily edited from the same Inspiration Africa! computer base.
The school's Inspiration Africa! coordinator was also the ICT teacher and so support was at hand for copying files from floppy disks onto the network to be accessed by the pupils. The literacy Alter Ego document was completed in this way and again sent as an e-mail attachment to Jacqui.
Pupils also searched on the web for other sites featuring carnivals and their key object, the MIDNIGHT ROBBER'S HEADDRESS. (As some of the sites are no longer online hyperlinks were removed 2004.)

On the final day of the project during and after making the video pupils were also given the chance to make their own PROJECT WEB PAGES.
