Project 4
Rectory Paddock Special School
ARTWORK/SCREEN PRINTING
The pupils began by looking again at the Gelede masks and reflecting on the different things that were represented on the top and bottom of them. | ![]() Drawing by Kemnal Technology College partner |
Tony then printed an example onto fabric where the lower part of the piece was a facial expression - a self portrait that reflected an aspect of character and personality, an insight into our spiritual self - and the upper part reflected interests, favoured possesions and things that meant a lot to us in the material world. The pupils had already examined some of these aspects with Sola when writing their acrostic poems. |

The children then worked together with their partner from Kemnal discussing what they wished to be on their own page. Some drew their own pictures while others directed their partners. | ![]() |
The images created were then cut out and screen printed as two colour over-prints onto a single piece of fabric divided into two sections to create an upper and lower page in the final Rectory Paddock Harmony Mask Book. |
