Dana's backdrop is scanned into the computer and the background removed.

Above: Dana scanned in a picture of a castle from a book for her first background. The background was removed in Paint Shop Pro 5 and then some bats were added (also scanned in) as a separate layer and merged.

Dana's portrait is merged with her backdrop and the image is further manipulated on the computer.

Above: Dana then merged her Count Dracula portrait subject with her background and finally added a finishing touch to the image by creating a shadow effect under the castle.

Dana commented about her first project:
"I dressed the artist in a cape then I thought he looked like Dracula (but he didn't have those teeth). I choose a castle because Dracula lives in a castle. They come out at night - I wonder what they eat for breakfast?"
    On manipulating the image:
"I brushed the dark blue sky with pink."
