COGPROG
Cloth of Gold have developed a computer programme (COGPROG©) that emulates the screen printing processes they use in the classroom on the computer. The programme, devised by the programmer Chris Thompson, enables pupils to design their banner vitually prior to printing it on fabric. COGPROG is currently being used in the Inspiration Africa! project.
Visit the COGPROG© site to find out how it works.

INSPIRATION AFRICA! (1999-2001)
In 1999 Cloth of Gold and the education department of the Horniman Museum secured two-year funding from the DFEE for an exciting series of school based Art, ICT and Literacy projects called Inspiration Africa!
The projects were inspired by the Horniman Museum's new 'African Worlds' exhibition -the only permanent gallery in Britain dedicated to African related cultures. Each project aimed to explore and expand pupils' reaction to African objects, encouraging and stimulating a range of exciting creative responses that developed ICT, Art and Language skills as well providing an increased respect for African culture.
Inspiration Africa! art, literacy and ICT outcomes are currently being exhibited at the Horniman Museum, Forest Hill, London, UK (July 9th - October 2001).

RICHARD CLOUDESLEY/BARBICAN PROJECT
The project involved an artist and website developer from Cloth of Gold working with the art teacher, classroom helpers and five pupils from Richard Cloudesley special school over an eight week period last term (Spring 1999). The pupils worked from the exhibition of photographs at the Barbican Centre "Africa by Africa: A Photographic view" using new information and communication technologies.
