INSPIRATION AFRICA!
Project 7
REPEAT IMAGES

Year 2 at Raglan Primary School

Hello Year 2

Do you remember Tony talking about symbols last Wednesday afternoon?

Looking at symbols

Do you also remember Tony and Sola talking about natural and man-made objects? You thought of lots of different objects and Tony wrote them on the blackboard.

Tony then gave you an object each and asked you to draw a symbol of it/them. First of all you drew it on white paper and then you drew on black paper and cut out the shape.

Drawing symbols

We have now scanned all of these images onto the computer and resized them. Here are two examples - with no names on! Do you know who they belong to?

What we are going to do next ...

First of all we have to find our shape. Some of them have not been named. Then we are going to colour in our shape in a programme called Paint on your computer. This will be saved and added to a webpage - making a repeat pattern. We will continue working on this until the end of the project so don't worry if you don't finish today.

Here is the process

Here is one of the images - is it natural or man-made?
It has been resized even smaller and coloured in inside Paint. You have to use the ZOOM function to be able to colour it in as it is quite small.

When you have all coloured in your images and you are happy with their appearance we will save the images in something called a GIF file format. These will then be added to the background of a webpage. Each small image is repeated over the whole page until the screen is filled up making a repeat pattern.

Finally, we will be using the webpages you design to link to your poems.
