ARTWORK/SCREEN PRINTING

Once the two groups had voted on and decided their Midnight Robber name they started to design their character's costume. They began by mono-printing and hand painting over large areas of fabric.

Pupils from each group focused on the lettering for the Midnight Robber names. They looked at the way logos are printed on the back of jackets (eg.Hells angels, baseball players, wreslers capes). They then layed out their shapes and printed dark colours over top.

They also took images from the Midnight Robber Profiles that they had filled in previously which emphasised their characters, enlarged and simplified them, cut them out and screen printed them.

All of the shapes they printed with were saved to be incorporated on the virtual banner.

Additional fabric was mono-printed with quick finger and stick drawings lifted from images of Trinadadian carnival costumes. These were then washed over with a light colour to be used by the finisher to make up their Robbers hats.

The Angel of Darkness and Death Skeleton Midnight Robbers' capes and hats were now ready to be videoed along with the two prepared raps (see literacy pages and making the video).
