INSPIRATION AFRICA!
Project 2
Sandhurst Junior School
INTERNET/VIRTUAL BANNER

Inspiration Africa! virtual banner

Towards the end of the project, pupils were asked to each draw and cut out a shape representing their project for the collaborative virtual banner. These shapes were then scanned into a computer, resized and made into bitmaps.

Some of the bitmaps have also been used as menu links on this project's home page.

On the last day of the project (day 6) the bitmap shapes were added to the Inspiration Africa! virtual banner in a piece of software called COGPROG. This software, devised by Chris Thompson for Cloth of Gold, has been specifically developed to emulate the screen printing processes used in the classroom on the computer and enables pupils to design their banner virtually.

Before the programme was explained to them, pupils were given a practical demonstration of colour overprinting showing them how the inks mix when printed on top of each other to create additional colours (above).

They then took it in turns to use the programme to click and drag their bitmap onto the virtual banner experimenting with where they wanted their image positioned and what colour it was to be printed.
Once the choice had been made the banner is saved and the next image is added
