with Cloth of Gold
Project and workshops


Every class in the school was involved in the residency, combining to create three large banners... WelcomeReception and Years 1 & 2 worked together on the Welcome Banner. They started by greeting each other "Welcome!"
Then they drew and cut out pictures of their welcoming faces for the banner.. Making paper stencilsMaking paper stencils..carefully cutting out the features so that they would show up when screen printed.
Each class were given an introduction to the screen printing process before starting work on their banner.. The printing processYears 5 & 6 went out sketching to create images for their Neighbourhood Banner..
..they drew the school, shops, houses and local transport including roads, railways and barges on the canal. The printing processYears 3 & 4 drew their favourite characters from books they had read for the Library Banner.
They also cut out the book titles and printed them for the border. Artist from Cloth of Gold screen printing with the childrenThe printing processThe Banner Opening at the end of the project was a great success with parents bringing food from around the world and a steel band providing the music.
