![]() The project was funded by the London Borough Grants Committee, the Baring Foundation and the Education departments of the participating boroughs. It was set up to provide a unique creative opportunity for the pupils with disabilities to work alongside artists exploring new and exciting ways of working with textile printing. ![]() Two schools from each borough took part in the project: Moselle and William C Harvey in Haringey, West Lea and Oaktree in Enfield, Wittlesea and Elm Grove in Harrow. The project began with a cross borough INSET where staff from the participating schools discussed the project and prepared for the forthcoming schools workshops. They were introduced to the different print processes that Cloth of Gold use with children and they produced their own large collaborative banner. ![]() Two Cloth of Gold artists then carried out a 3 or 4 day residency in each school working on selected themes relating to current school topics. These included London, Underwater, the Rainforest, the Egyptians, the school environment and two of the schools produced welcome banners. Pupils prepared their designs by drawing from observation or imagination and then cutting these out to make shapes or tore pieces of paper to use in the screen printing process. They also painted, monoprinted and block printed onto the fabric and made photographic stencils with photographs the pupils had taken of each other and images created using the photocopier. ... on to the exhibitions |
