In 1999, the London-based arts organisation, Cloth of Gold and the Education Department of the Horniman Museum secured funding from the DFEE for an exciting series of school based Art, ICT and Literacy projects called Inspiration Africa! Over two years they worked, in partnership, with six schools from each of the London Boroughs of Lewisham and Bromley (two primary, two secondary and two different types of special schools in each borough). The projects were inspired by the Horniman Museum's African Worlds exhibition -the only permanent gallery in Britain dedicated to African related cultures.

During the project pupils left contact e-mail addresses, searched for links on their key object, completed worksheets and a pupil evaluation form and used the Noticeboard from this classroom activities page.
