THE GREEDY KING

A long time ago in a place far away there lived a rich and greedy king. This king could rise and lower the taxes as he pleased. He always had them so high that many families starved.

At the other side of the country one hundred men and women sacrificed their lives and belongings to make a wonderful golden scarf to be given to their perfect king who respected the country. When the first king heard about this he was filled with jealousy and ordered spies to steal the half-finished scarf. The spy succeeded and finally he had what he had always wanted.

He ordered slaves to finish the scarf. The years went by and thousands of innocent people died. The king saw a beautiful girl. She was only 19. The king demand to marry her. "You shall marry me no matter what and if you say no, you shall die". The poor girl had no chance and married the cruel king. Only 24 hours later the king died and the young girl married the king's son.

In the years that the king had the scarf it had lost its wonderful colours and became a dark dull piece of cloth but when the king passed away and happinness came to the land, the cloth became completely golden and represented happinness and peace.
